ASKED QUESTIONS |
|
Q: What kind of paints do you use? A: All our face-painters use easily removable, water based Snazaroo, Wolfe Bros. Hydrocolor, Mehron, and Fardel face paints- all of which have been approved by the FDA. They all give a wide range of color and cover all skin tones equally well. We DO NOT use acrylics or craft paint, which contain harsh chemicals and can damage skin. |
Q: How do you remove these paints? A: These paints wash off easily with mild soap and water or unscented baby wipes. Do not use creams or lotions as they contain oils, which will retard the removal process. If the paints get on clothing, soak in Spray 'n' Wash and then launder as normal. |
Q: Are there times when you will refuse to paint a child? A: We do not paint the unwilling or asleep. Please do not as for your child's face to be painted if they have a skin disorder (ie: ringworm, pink eye, or cold sores). A design on the hand or arm might be better, we can even paint the parent! |
Q: What can I do to make sure the paint will stay on my skin? A: Please ensure that the area to be painted is clean and free from remnants of food or dirt. Some sunscreens or lotions will make the paint bead up or go on unevenly. 'Wet Ones' will be available for your use to make sure your skin is clean before we apply the paint. If you sweat, cry or swim, the paint will come off. For art on the body, we can use a mint-based fixer spray made by Ben Nye to ensure that the design will not rub off on clothing or smear because of sweat. |
Q: What kind of glitter do you use? A: We use only safe, rounded poly-glitter that has been designed for use on skin. We do not use metallic or craft glitter. |
Q: What about sensative skin or those with allergies? A: We use a variety of paints, which have different bases so that we are able to cater to as many skin types and skin sensativities as possible. Snazaroo and Fardel use a synthetic lanolin base and contain no fragrances. Mehron uses a synthetic lanolin base along with coconut opil instead of a fragrance. Wolfe Bros. Hydrocolor uses a beeswax base for those who are sensative to lanolin. If you have had a problem before with inferior paints, please ask for a patch test before getting painted. If no reaction occurs within one hour, then we'll be happy to paint you! We never endorse paint being left on the hair or skin overnight. |
Q: What kind of Henna do you use? A: We use well sifted Jamila Henna and mix it with lemon juice, tea tree oil, and lavender oil for long lasting color and a pleasant, relaxing scent. |
Q: How long does Henna stay on the skin? A: Most Henna designs will stay on the skin for up to two weeks, depending on where you get the henna applied. Designs on the hands and feet last the longest, while designs closer to the center of your body will fade faster. |
Q: Are all kinds of Henna safe for skin? A: So-called 'Black Henna' is never safe for use on skin. It contains dyes that can burn the skin permanently, never allow it on your skin. We use only well sifted Jamila Henna. |
